Meeting for group to see where we are...make plans  (including ancillary)

Through past projects in Media, I've learnt that organisation is a key aspect to not only the planning, but the overall success of a project. Leaving things to the last minute can lead to rushed decisions and to avoid this, a schedule to ensure work was produced by deadline dates that we had made ourselves.

Research- Iconography

Above are shots of different Iconography which can be used throughout our media Project. Later on in posts I will describe why these can be used and exactly how they will be incorporated.

Research- Location and Characters

This is a mood board in which the group constructed on various Locations which we could set our Music Video. Using the Lyrics to help decide, we came up with a subsequent amount of Locations:
  • Beach
  • London
  • Green Screen
  • Vintage streets ( Brick Lane)
  • Camden
  • Busy London Streets
This has also meant that the mise-en-scene has been easily identified, I will talk later in my blog about the types of camera angles we are hoping to use.
The set/setting and location list enables the group to combined both the themes and genres and incorporate through the use of location.

Charcters were a key aspect, as their roles play an important element. Therefore as a group we sat down and discussed who should play who. It then fell upon myself 'Sam Robinson' to play Olly Murs and 'Faith Brackstone' another memeber of the group to play the female companion. This was decided as we knew we would be reliable and could incorporate our own vision throughout the filming process.

Research- Genre

Due to Olly Murs 'Thinking of me' having a pop and a slight reggae genre, the mood board above is of iconic artists who also have this genre. As you can see bright colours, close up shots and a fun image is created from each of these album covers.
Pop music is often pointed towards the youth market , usually using new technology and also new themes. Hopefully this will be created in our promotional package.

Annotated Lyrics

Here is the annotated lyrics of Olly Murs 'Thinking of me'. This really helped to get the overall theme of the song as well as location, style and storyline ideas. For instance the bridge of the song has been decided to be in Black and White to show the reminiscent memories as well as the change in the tone and mood.
Still not fully decided upon certain aspects within the song for instance the chorus however hopefully this will come in time such as whether to have a striking motif or whether to have a subtle motif.
