First decision- Song Choice
The first major decision was which song to create a promotional packagae for. As a group we brainstormed some of our favourite artists and songs. Here below is the brainstrom which I created so as a group we could have many different options available:
Creating this brainstorm meant that we each had a clear image of the genre of music we each listened to and it was very apparent that the pop genre stood out and was a dominant genre of music which we all liked and listened to.
From finding this out as a group we researched the vodafone big top 40 chart http://www.bigtop40.com/ to help gain inspiration and also part of audience feedback as this will address which songs and artists appeal to our genre.
The group and I have been discussing what song to chose for the final music video project by looking at different genres and codes and conventions of each song. The final two songs which were selected were 'Ellie Goulding- Your song' and 'Olly Murs- Thinking Of Me'.
The group found it extremely hard choosing between the two songs, to help gain inspiration from each song the group annotated the lyrics. As each song had a specific story and layout we then gained audience feedback to help us decide which song. We produced a questionnaire and handed it out in the Canteen at school. The age range in which we gave the questionnaire ranged from Year 7's up to some of the senior teachers, this would enable us to get feedback from different generations.

Here are the artists actual videos of the artists which has meant we could gain inspirations from the mise-en-scene and also the iconography from each video.
Here is the questionnaire that the group created in order to target our target audience which is 13-28 due to the pop genre:
